Social Media Week - Luxe Life: The post- Return of Luxury, And How Social Media Helped Speed Its Comeback.

Today at 11 am the Social Media Week event (champagne breakfast) hosted by Luck Magazine took place at the Wix Lounge.  Four fashion/luxe entrepreneurs : Shauna Mei, CEO and Founder of AHALife; Verena von Pfetten, Editor in Chief of Styleit.com; Brooke Moreland, CEO and Co-Founder of Fashism; and Claire Mazur, CEO and Co-Founder of Of A Kind debated about how Social Media helped luxury brands recover from recession.

They all agreed with one thing: Luxury is not a risky business; it will never die. Consumers became more picky with what they buy and began investing in more unique and special things due to recession, but never stopped desiring luxe.

The panel discussed how Social Media made luxury brands more accessible - think of Chanel and Lanvin on Twitter; the possibility of brands to market and sell on the lifestyle rather than doing it directly through commercials and old-school marketing strategies; how brands can engage with a more young audience (remember that kids in few years will be all dying for LV bags and Gucci shoes); and how "dead" brands are being able to reinvent themselves with Social Media.

The greatest outcome of the Social Media and luxury brands partnership is the possibility of engaging with people whether or not they can afford the brand. By forming personal connections, there's a possibility of long-term relationships. It's a global relationship which the primary language is English with French accent!

About myself

My name is Allan Santos. I'm a senior student at the City College of New York, majoring in Advertising and Public Relations. My career goal is to become a marketing communications specialist in the fashion industry.

This blog reflects my point of view about what is important in Social Media. So much happens every second in this field, that is just impossible to report every single detail of the business. I'm here, selecting few information that I find relevant and maybe shaping the future of everything related to Social Media and the way we communicate these days!!!
